About us

Iruvé (pronounced ee-roo-way) Collective was founded by Vasundhara Shiva Kumar, Kavya Narayana and Sayli Khadilkar. After years of working independently and finding themselves returning to the same projects, collaboration became less a choice than a way of working.

Iruvé is the Kannada word for ant. Like a colony, the practice believes in quiet order: many small decisions coming together without a single author, shaped by patience, instinct and connection to form something whole.

Every space is approached as a composition, where material, light, proportion and detail exist in conversation with one another. The whole is never found in a single idea, but in the relationships between many.

Meet the founders

Vasundhara Shiva Kumar

Vasundhara completed her Bachelor of Architecture at M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology in 2014. She began her career working with notable practices including Collage Architecture Studio and Total Environment, and later joined Studio Rūh as an Associate. These experiences shaped her understanding of architecture and interiors, while gradually drawing her towards the intimacy and detail of designing spaces from within.

Over the years, she found herself increasingly drawn to the freedom of an independent practice, developing a more personal and instinctive approach to design.

Outside the studio, Vasundhara is a trained vocalist and a lifelong musician. When she isn’t designing, she can often be found on stage, performing and indulging her other great love – music.

Kavya Narayana

Kavya studied architecture at M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, graduating in 2015. During her first year at an architecture practice, she worked on interior projects, sparking her interest in interiors. She went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Interior Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design in the U.S.

After returning to Bengaluru, she joined Studio Rūh, gaining experience across a range of interior projects. She later started her own practice and co-founded Iruvé Collective. Her approach is rooted in materiality, detail and quieter elements that allow each space to develop its own character. She creates spaces that feel warm, thoughtful and nuanced.

Away from work, Kavya is happiest with a sketchbook, drawing nature. She enjoys travelling, trying new experiences and finding good food wherever she goes.

Sayli Khadilkar

Sayli graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Mumbai in 2018. With over eight years of experience, she has worked across design studios in Mumbai and Studio Rūh in Bangalore on a diverse range of projects.

Her approach is rooted in curiosity, materiality and a strong attention to detail. She is drawn to spaces that feel natural and effortless, yet distinct in character. Each project develops its own language, shaped by its context, the people who inhabit it and the stories that unfold along the way. After establishing her own practice, she went on to co-found Iruvé, continuing this approach through a more collaborative and personal design practice.

When she is not designing, Sayli enjoys reading, travelling and exploring new places, ideas and experiences, often finding inspiration in the nuances of everyday life.
